Alliance for the Homeless, Boston, MA
Facilitated a merger with Boston Health Care for the Homeless. Worked with Board and staff from both organizations to explore mission and culture fit, mutual benefits, new organizational structure, integration of governance, finances, staffing, programs, management information systems, etc. Helped develop communication plan to maximize benefits of merger.
Boston Higher Education Resource Center, Boston, MA

 

Helped form a 501c3 corporation and build a Board of Directors. Provided Board training. Helped build Boston HERC’s organizational capacity and increase its funding. Facilitated a strategic planning process to guide program growth. 

Bridge Over Troubled Waters, Boston, MA
  Facilitated a staff retreat that resulted in improved teamwork and a Board retreat that strengthened the working relationship between the staff and Board.
Cape Cod Foundation, Yarmouthport, MA
Developed a strategic plan that led to a doubling of CCF’s endowment and expanded grantmaking. Delivered management assistance and program evaluation trainings for CCF grantees on the Cape and the Islands and provided individualized technical assistance on program evaluation.
Charles River Watershed Association, Weston, MA
Guided a reorganization of CRWA’s Development Department and wrote a fundraising plan that expanded its individual donor base and improved its special event fundraising.
Commonwealth Fund, N.Y., N.Y
Coordinated the development of a pediatric demonstration project with Massachusetts General Hospital and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts to test the efficacy of the Commonwealth Fund’s “Healthy Steps for Young Children” initiative, which evolved into a national program.
Consumers for Affordable Health Care, Augusta, ME

Helped CAHC improve its internal operations and management practices, reorganize the staff, expand the Board, and develop clearer staff and Board roles.

Fund for Nonprofit Partnerships in the Boston Public Schools, Boston, MA

Evaluated the Fund’s 5-year grantmaking initiative to support collaboration between nonprofit organizations and Boston public schools. Helped the Fund design a second phase of the project and raise funds to establish itself as a permanent resource in Boston, which evolved into EdVestors.

Hopkinton Center for the Arts, Hopkinton, MA

 

Wrote a successful proposal to the Massachusetts Cultural Facilities Fund that provided a $450,000 capital grant to support the design and construction of a new art center. Assisted with Board development. Provided executive coaching. 

 

Jamaica Plain Neighborhood Development Corporation, Boston, MA

 

Evaluated and helped restructure JPNDC’s Health Care Research and Training Institute. Worked with the organization’s leadership to improve its operations and management systems. Developed a Strategic and Operations Plan for the Economic Developmment Program. Provided guidance on capital campaign plan.

 

Jewish Federation of Greater Hartford, Hartford, CT
Evaluated the Federation’s planning and management functions, as well as its social service delivery system, including six affiliated agencies (Jewish Association for Community Living, Jewish Community Center, Jewish Family Services, Hebrew Home & Hospital and two elderly housing developments). This work led to management and program improvements throughout the Federation.
Liberty Bank Foundation, Middletown, CT
  Facilitated two 5-year strategic planning projects for Liberty Bank’s charitable foundation that have dramatically increased the impact of Liberty’s grantmaking and maximized its community engagement and support roles.  
Massachusetts Department of Children & Families, Boston, MA
  Authored the Massachusetts State Plan for Family Preservation and Family Support that was the centerpiece of the Commonwealth’s successful $17 million application to the U.S. Administration for Children and Families. The funding supported DCF’s Community Connections program.  
New Art Center, Newton, MA
  Served as Interim Executive Director. Supervised 8-person staff. Drove improvements in finances, donor development, program growth, operations and systems improvements, Board development, communications & marketing, and community relations/partnerships.  
New England Grassroots Environment Fund (NEGEF), Montpelier, VT
  Worked with NEGEF and its Boston Grants Initiative Steering Committee to increase the volume and effectiveness of its environmental grantmaking.  
Nurtury, Boston, MA
  Co-facilitated a planning project for the development of Nurtury’s new Learning Lab, a $22 million early education and care center in Jamaica Plain that provides a wide range of services to children and families, including childcare, financial literacy, and parenting education.
Raw Art Works, Lynn, MA
Facilitated a capacity-building and strategic planning project that helped Raw sharpen its focus, strengthen its management and operations, expand its fundraising, and serve more youth. Continued to advise Raw on fundraising, program planning, outcome measurement, and Board development. Revised Raw’s by-laws, helped form a Friends Council, and provided fundraising coaching.
Small Friends Early Care and Education Center, Nantucket, MA
Designed and helped lead a successful $4 million capital campaign to build a new state-of-the-art early education and care center.
Vietnamese American Civic Association, Boston, MA
Developed a workplan to guide VACA’s participation in a state workforce development initiative. Facilitated strategic planning, Board development, staff development, organizational restructuring, and improvements in VACA’s management information systems. VACA’s finances steadily improved and services expanded over the next 5 years.
West End Boys & Girls Club, Boston, MA
Facilitated a strategic planning project that helped produce steady growth in revenues and programs. Provided coaching that improved fundraising, marketing and Board effectiveness.
